Wauconda Park District Board Vacancy
Beginning May 10, 2023, The Wauconda Park District Board of Commissioners is accepting Letters of Interest from Wauconda Park District residents who are interested in serving on the Board of Commissioners to fill two vacancies for a term that expires on May 13, 2025 at the regularly scheduled Board meeting.
The Board always seeks the best-qualified candidate for Park Board Commissioner and provides equal opportunity in a manner which does not discriminate against any person because of race, creed, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, ancestry, age, marital civil union, or family status, physical or mental handicap, pregnancy, or unfavorable discharge from military service.
To be eligible to serve as a Park Board Commissioner a person must be a resident of the Park District, a registered voter, and at least 18 years old. Any person who is in arrears in the payment of a tax or other indebtedness owed to the Park District or who has been convicted of any infamous crime, bribery, perjury, or other felony is not eligible to serve. The candidate appointed to fill the vacancy will be required to file a Statement of Economic Interest.
The primary role of the Park District Board of Commissioners is to provide oversight and governance of the Park District. The Board sets the policy pursuant to which professional staff operate the District. Park Commissioners are not compensated.
Interested applicants should submit a letter outlining their relevant experiences and qualifications to the Park District, c/o Executive Director Tim Staton, to be received by the Park District no later than 5 pm on June 9, 2023. Timely submitted applications will be forwarded to the Park Board at a future meeting for consideration, and a subsequent appointment will be based upon the same. The Park Board of Commissioners holds its regular meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month with only one meeting held in June and July. Meetings begin at 6:00 pm and are held at the Wauconda Park District Community Center.
