Camp Wauconda

2020 Registration Dates
Residents: March 4th
Non-Residents: March 11th

It’s never too early to start thinking about summer fun! We already have a fun-filled summer planned for your child! Camp Wauconda offers a full-time and part-time format with age-appropriate activities like arts and crafts, swimming, games, field trips, theme days, special events, and much more! Camp Wauconda is for children entering grades K-8th in the Fall of 2020.

Camp Format:

Camp Wauconda is an active day camp that is planned by our Camp Coordinator, Camp Counselors, Recreation Staff, and campers themselves. Our staff to camper ratio is 1:8 for K-5th grades and 1:10 for 6th-8th grades. Kids are grouped by grade, so they are interacting with kids their own age most of the time. Each week a new theme is incorporated into the activities, projects, and games that have been planned. There are off-site Field Trips, swimming at the Park District beach, and Special Events each week! You may pick and choose the weeks you’d like or sign up for a full summer of fun!!

Registration Information:

A one-time, $20 non-refundable Registration Fee is required at the time of registration, along with an additional $10 non-refundable deposit for each week your child will attend. $10 deposit will go towards the fee for that week. Dates may change due to District #118 schedule. Siblings will receive a 10% discount on the lesser amount (if applicable) when registering for the same week(s) of camp. Each camper will receive a T-shirt and backpack with their registration fee.

Additional Information:

Campers will be grouped together based on grade and/or age. Campers should bring a sack lunch each day; a snack will be provided to those campers staying after 4pm. Campers should wear comfortable, close-toed shoes (sneakers), as they will be very active on their feet. Do not send campers to Camp wearing flip flops.

Field Trips:

School Age Camp (K-5th) will have field trips each Wednesday. Teen Camp (6th-8th) will go on field trips each Tuesday and Thursday. Field trips are included in the weekly cost of camp. Some field trips may require an additional waiver to be signed by a parent/guardian; waivers will be emailed and/or passed out to parents at Camp drop-off or pick-up.

Swim Days:

School Age Camp (K-5th) will swim at the Park District Beach on Mondays and Thursdays; Teen Camp (6th-8th) will swim Wednesdays and Fridays. Please send your child to Camp in their swim wear, and don’t forget a towel and sunscreen!

NEW – Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Program

Join our NEW Counselor-In-Training program. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday your child will be placed in a K-5 group where they will be responsible for helping the lead counselor organize the group, lead activities and guide the campers as they see necessary. The Site Coordinator along with the counselors will help your child learn how to become a top-notch counselor. They will be evaluated and have a mock interview at the end of the summer. Interviews will be held to determine if your child qualifies for the program. We will only be accepting 10 applicants so please contact Debbie Yakimisky at 847-526-3610 to set up your interview today. The fees for Counselor-In-Training will be based off the K-5 3 Days (M, W, F) camp. Make your summer complete by adding Tuesday and Thursday Teen Camp.
