Dear Residents,

Summer Goes Fast – It’s hard to believe another summer has come and gone. While I do not like the hot temperatures summer brings, I do enjoy the activities that our staff work so hard to plan every year. I would like to acknowledge all the work our recreation staff does during the summer months. From Wauconda Fest to a simple 45-minute slime class, all ages and details are covered. Thank you for doing such a great job for the community!

Summer also brings the biggest number of volunteers we have all year. Every summer hundreds of people of all ages volunteer to be part of Wauconda Fest and our annual Triathlon. These two events would not be successful without the efforts of so many. I would like to thank all our volunteers at this time as well.

 

Phil’s Beach – I want to congratulate the Phil’s Beach staff on a job well done. During our recent aquatics audit our facility was rated a Five Star by Star Guard Elite. The annual audits focus on safety compliance and include unannounced inspections, as well as lifeguard scenarios designed to test skills. In addition to the overall facility score, several lifeguards achieved Five-Star rankings on their individual skills assessments. Those guards include:

These lifeguards were recognized at our July 27 Board Meeting. Thank you again for going above and beyond expectations. Looking to Fall – Just because summer is coming to a close doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. We have something that will meet everyone’s needs. Following is a snippet of what we are offering during the fall 2026 season.

 

  • Silver Sneakers – (p.43) Provides an opportunity to work out in our Fitness First Facility as well as access to free drop-in classes for those eligible participants 65 and over.
  • Indoor Pickleball – (p.44) Indoor Pickleball will take place again this fall and is sure to be popular again this fall.
  • Corks and Kegs (p.10) The Annual Wauconda Parks Foundation fundraiser features beer and wine tasting along with live music, raffles, and more.
  • Scarecrow in the Park (p.11) Grab family, friends, or co-workers and build a scarecrow to help us line main street with creative masterpieces.
